Ambar Diaz is a Partner and Chair of the Firm’s Cuba Practice Group
Ms. Diaz is situated perfectly between two worlds with a Juris Doctorate both from the University of Havana School of Law in Havana, Cuba and the University of Miami Law School in Coral Gables, Florida. Her experience with and knowledge of Cuban and American business law has made Ms. Diaz the go-to attorney for individuals and businesses who seek to legally conduct business in Cuba and help navigate the business and personal pitfalls associated with the U.S. trade embargo of Cuba (the “U.S. Embargo”). She has already assisted several businesses to conduct business in Cuba, both by obtaining the required licenses and authorizations from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, and also by advising them as to how to conduct business and conduct themselves while in Cuba. Ms. Diaz’s firsthand knowledge of Cuban culture, laws, institutions and people provide unique, comprehensive advice that often goes beyond legal matters.
Areas of practice include legal compliance with the U.S. Embargo and Cuban laws and regulations, U.S. Department of Commerce and OFAC license applications and enforcement investigations, for profit and nonprofit projects in Cuba.
